Pashinyan continues his treasonous path forward

By Vicken Sosikian – The meeting between Aliyev and Pashinyan in Brussels, mediated by European Council president Charles Michel, lasted about four hours and ended without a press conference.

Shortly after the conclusion of the meeting the government of Armenia issued an announcement, whereby they informed that the two sides had agreed to form a joint commission by the end of April to demarcate the borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The announcement also indicated that the peace agreement between the two enemy countries will be negotiated by their two foreign ministers.

The fact that Pashinyan has agreed to demarcate the new borders during this meeting, the fact that he had previously announced that he finds the terms of the five point “peace proposal” offered by Aliyev acceptable, the fact that the first point of the proposal stipulates mutual recognition of each other’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of international borders and political independence; all attest to the reality that Pashinyan is bulldozing ahead with his plan to have Artsakh be a part of Azerbaijan.

The parliament of Artsakh has unanimously declared that they are against Artsakh being a part of Azerbaijan and the people of Artsakh, with virtual unanimity, have in the past affirmed this desire through referendums.

However, Pashinyan continues his treasonous path forward with total disregard for the voice of 100,000+ people in Artsakh, who will sooner, or later face genocide should they be forced to live under Azerbaijani rule.

Not only is Pashinyan in violation of a cardinal principle in modern international law – the right of a people to self-determination, he is joined in this gross infringement by Charles Michel, who is caving into Azerbaijan’s upper hand now as it seeks alternatives to oil it previously purchased from Russia.

The ball is in the court of the people. The people must decide whether they will remain silent in acceptance or vocal in action to walk ourselves back from the cliff’s edge our nation stands at currently.
