As part of consultations with political forces, we held meetings last week with the leaders of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), the “Azatutyun” party, and the “Hayrenik” party, as well as with representatives of civil society, human rights defenders, and lawyers, said Ishkhan Saghatelyan, Representative of the ARF Supreme Council of Armenia and a member of the National Assembly of Armenia.
He noted that they discussed questions related to forming cooperation around a number of agenda issues.
“Overall, there is mutual understanding regarding the cornerstone issues.
In the coming period, discussions will continue with influential forces in the political and civic spheres.
P.S. I remind you that during the parliamentary hearings held in the National Assembly, we proposed that political forces begin discussions on the following agenda issues:
- Forming resistance by all legal means against repression, political persecution, and restrictions on freedoms;
- Defending the Armenian Apostolic Church and national values;
- Defending the rights of political prisoners—on the principle that any political prisoner is all of our political prisoner;
- Ensuring the legality of the electoral process and exercising oversight;
- Excluding negative campaigning against one another;
- Excluding any cooperation with the regime (including in the post-election phase),” Ishkhan Saghatelyan added.
