Veteran School Board Leader Krikorian to Restore Safety and Stability to GUSD
Glendale, CA — Greg Krikorian was first elected to the Glendale Unified School District Board of Education in 2001 and proudly served for more than 22 years — the longest tenure in GUSD history.
In July 2022, he chose not to seek reelection. Since then, he has watched the school board lose focus on its core responsibilities: student safety and financial stability.
Just this past month, the community experienced every parent’s worst nightmare when a GUSD special education assistant was charged with child sexual abuse at Glenoaks Elementary School and had also worked at Columbus Elementary School (as reported on February 5, 2026, by CBS Los Angeles News).

As a father of five and grandfather of four, student safety is deeply personal to him. Schools must be safe — period. It is deeply concerning that some board members appear more focused on partisan politics than on working collaboratively with the Glendale Police Department and maintaining School Resource Officers on campus.
In 2022, four of the five board members were of Armenian descent. By June 2026, there may be no Armenian American representation on the Glendale School Board — despite Armenians making up more than 40% of the district’s students and staff.
That is why Greg Krikorian is announcing his candidacy for Glendale School Board District B in the June 2 primary election. The community must come together to ensure strong leadership and a clear voice for families.
As a 36-year Glendale resident, small business owner, father of five GUSD graduates, and grandfather of four, education has always been central to his life. He is a second-generation Armenian American; all four of his grandparents survived the Armenian Genocide of 1915 and came to America as orphans.
During his 22 years on the Board, safety, academic excellence, and fiscal responsibility were prioritized while serving more than 27,000 students and 2,800 staff members. More than $800 million was invested in modern classrooms, technology, athletic facilities, and campus improvements through Bond Measures K and S.

He helped establish the first public school Armenian Heritage Dual Language Immersion programs in the United States at Jefferson and R.D. White Elementary Schools and expanded Armenian language courses to every GUSD high school. The Board also recognized Armenian Christmas and April 24 with school closures and supported annual student-led Armenian Genocide commemorations and leadership initiatives that foster civic pride and unity.
Now, he is running to restore stability, rebuild trust, and refocus the district on what matters most: safe schools and strong academics.
It’s time to restore confidence in our schools.
It’s time to get back to the ABCs.
Join the campaign on June 2. Vote Greg Krikorian for School Board District B.
