Glendale PD

For Immediate Release

Glendale, CA – On the afternoon of June 9, 2023, a Glendale Police Officer was hailed down by the
victim of an act of hateful vandalism.

The victim told officers the incident occurred in the 600 block of East Lomita Avenue in Glendale. He
stated he parked his car last night at approximately 9:00 pm. He returned this morning and found his
car had been “keyed.” Scratches were on the passenger side, the rear panel, the roof, and the hood.
“IT’S OK TO BE QUEER,” “PRIDE,” “STOP HATING,” and “LGBTQ” were among the phrases etched
into the paint in various parts of the car (PHOTOS INCLUDED, PAGE 2). Additionally, a derogatory word
used to attack those of Armenian descent was carved into the vehicle’s hood.

Detectives from the Glendale Police Department Robbery/Homicide Unit, which investigates hate
crimes, immediately began an investigation. The car is currently in police custody undergoing
Forensics testing.
