Ishkhan Saghatelyan Met with the Ambassador of Canada to Armenia

On November 24, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, representative of the Supreme Body of the ARF of Armenia, chairman of the Armenia-Canada parliamentary friendship group, met with Andrew Turner, Canada’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Armenia. The interlocutors exchanged ideas on a number of directions of development of Armenia-Canada relations.

Saghatelyan congratulated Ambassador Turner on the occasion of the opening of the Canadian Resident Embassy in Armenia and highlighted the stable development of relations between the two countries.

Saghatelyan drew attention to the fact of the genocide carried out by Azerbaijan in Artsakh and ethnic cleansing as a result of it, expecting a clear international assessment of what happened and practical steps, without ambiguities.

The issue of illegal detention of prisoners of war and the military-political leadership of Artsakh and their immediate release was also raised.

A special reference was made to the need to protect the complex rights of the Armenians of Artsakh.

Thoughts were also exchanged on the establishment of democratic institutions in Armenia, their development and existing problems.
