ICRC helps transfer 17 more patients from Artsakh to Armenia

17 more patients have been transferred from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

17 others who had been transferred to Armenia earlier are expected to return home later on Monday, June 26.

The Artsakh health authorities say 5 children are in the neonatal and intensive care units of the children’s hospital, while 6 adult patients are in the intensive care unit, 3 of them in critical condition.

Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin was summoned to the Armenian Foreign Ministry on June 16 after an attempt by the Azerbaijani forces, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers, to raise an Azerbaijani flag over Armenian territory, which left one Armenian border guard injured. Following the incident, Azerbaijan completely blockaded Karabakh and banned the transfer of patients to Armenia.
