Cycle Against Denial Rolling Once Again

On Saturday, April 15, the Armenian Youth Federation “Sartarabad” Chapter of the South San Fernando Valley held its annual “Cycle Against Denial”, a bicycling event the chapter established over a decade ago, interrupted only during Covid.

For many participants, this ride is the starting point for the weeks long chain of events commemorating the Armenian Genocide.

The ride started at 1640 Appian Way, in Santa Monica, along the beach, and took participants through the crowded streets of Santa Monica, attracting the interests of onlookers who kept asking questions about the ride. At the starting point for the ride, the AYF had installed a tent and a large number of posters that also helped educate onlookers about the purpose of the ride.

The event was well organized,  with a car in front and at the back of the bicycle riders. All necessary precautions were taken to minimize any mishaps and the route was clearly delineated. The loud speaker in front of the riders kept announcing the purpose of the ride.

On behalf of the AYF Sartarabad Chapter, Nareg Kuyumjian made opening remarks, welcomed the crowd and announced the restart of this annual tradition, which has been a powerful means for the chapter to interact with the community and bring attention to its activities in pursuit of the Armenian cause. Kuyumjian also thanked the sponsors for helping support and make the event a reality.

A large number of supporters and comrades were present alongside the riders to encourage the event.
