Aleksandr Pankin: Russia Calls on Armenia to Start Discussing State of Affairs Within CSTO

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Pankin urged Armenia to engage in constructive discussions regarding the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) instead of resorting to public criticism. Pankin emphasized the importance of enhancing the effectiveness of the CSTO as a politico-military alliance and highlighted the necessity for Armenia’s active participation within the organization.

Expressing concern over Armenia’s current distance from the CSTO, Pankin stressed the significance of Armenia’s swift return to full engagement within the framework of the organization. He called upon Armenian officials to address pertinent issues at the political and expert levels rather than resorting to emotional public criticism.

Pankin underscored Moscow’s belief that maintaining a respectful dialogue with Armenia within the CSTO framework aligns with Yerevan’s security interests. Furthermore, he emphasized that such dialogue supports peace and stability not only in Eurasia but also specifically in the South Caucasus region.
