ARF Bureau Announcement
Dear compatriots,
Today, when the people of Armenia are facing serious security challenges, when the existential threats to Armenia and the Armenian people remain unresolved, when national accord and unity are of vital importance, the ruling regime overtly has launched a campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church, its supreme leader, the duly-elected Catholicos, and its bishops.
The regime’s reprehensible goals and rhetoric toward one of the most important foundations of our identity are clearly anti-national and unconstitutional.
It is undeniable that this smear campaign coincides with the Armenian Apostolic Church’s initiatives on the international arena aimed at protecting national interests and the rights of the Armenians of Artsakh.
It is also evident that the attacks by the authorities were motivated by the immoral and false statements of the “the religious leader” of our enemy state, as well as by the efforts of certain circles who aim to exploit the issue of religious freedoms in Armenia, and undermine the constitutionally enshrined historical mission and status of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Undermining and targeting the historical and significant role of the Armenian Church in the life of the Armenian people not only serves these hostile interests, but also deepens the prevalent moral crisis in the country, weakens our collective resolve, and trivializes the dedication and dignity of the faithful Armenian people.
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau expresses its unconditional solidarity to the Armenian Apostolic Church, strictly condemns the destructive, anti-state actions of the ruling regime against the Armenian Church, and declares that its pan-national structures—with all their capabilities and resolve–stand with the Armenian Apostolic Church, in the name of our national aspirations and the strengthening of Armenian statehood.
