Tavlian Preschool and Kindergarten Announces Campus Expansion to Meet Growing Community Demand

Pasadena, California – Levon and Hasmig Tavlian Preschool and Kindergarten is pleased to announce the acquisition of the adjacent property to support its continued growth and unwavering commitment to serving the needs of the community. The expansion will provide dedicated administrative space, allowing the school to repurpose existing facilities for additional classroom use – a critical step in accommodating the school’s growing waitlist.

“This new property is not just about space,” said Dr. Garine Joukadarian, Director of Levon and Hasmig Tavlian Preschool and Kindergarten. “It’s an investment in our future—a future where more of our children can grow in a nurturing environment that prepares them academically, socially, and emotionally. It is an investment in early childhood education that is rooted in Armenian language, culture, and heritage.”

The school’s expansion reflects Tavlian’s long-standing commitment to delivering high-quality early childhood education and addressing the evolving needs of the families it serves. As the school continues to grow, this initiative ensures that more students will have access to a strong academic foundation in a supportive, developmentally focused environment.

“Our vision has always been to foster a generation of confident, compassionate, and culturally grounded leaders,” said Saro Shirinian, Chair of the Levon and Hasmig Tavlian School Board. “The expansion is a direct response to families who are eager to enroll their children in a program that promotes academic excellence and nurtures cultural pride. We invite the community to join us in shaping the next chapter of our school.”

Under the auspices of the Western Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America – and through the initiative and dedication of the Tavlian School Board, local community members, and benefactors – the property directly adjacent to the school was officially acquired on July 1. The significant milestone is the result of years of collaboration with the Western Prelacy Executive Council and the Board of Regents of the Prelacy Schools.

“The expansion of Prelacy schools has been a core mission of the Western Prelacy for over half a century,” stated Mr. Vahe G. Hovaguimian, Chair of the Prelacy Executive Council. “Preschools are the first step in education and serve as strongholds of our national existence. This achievement is a testament to the dedication of all who helped bring Tavlian’s long-standing dream to fruition.”

His Eminence Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America, praised the school’s leadership and progress:

“Levon and Hasmig Tavlian Preschool and Kindergarten is not only expanding physically but spiritually and intellectually—carrying forward the sacred mission of preserving Armenian culture through education. It is a beacon of our faith, language, and heritage for generations to come.”

Since opening its doors in 1992 with just four students, Levon and Hasmig Tavlian Preschool and Kindergarten has flourished as a pillar of the Pasadena Armenian American community and grown into one of the region’s most respected early childhood education programs. Over the past three decades, the school has proudly served thousands of young learners, offering a full-day, developmentally appropriate curriculum for children ages 2 to 5.
