Armenian National Committee of America Endorses Vivek Ramaswamy for Ohio Governor

Cites Strong Record of Support on Issues of Special Concern to the Buckeye State’s Armenian Americans

COLUMBUS, OH – The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) is proud to endorse Vivek Ramaswamy for Governor of Ohio in the 2026 election based upon his consistent and vocal support for Armenian issues – most notably holding Azerbaijan accountable for its crimes against Artsakh and the Armenian people.

Ramaswamy has a long record of advocating for policy priorities that resonate with Americans of Armenian heritage, particularly in response to Azerbaijan’s aggression against Artsakh and Armenia. During his 2024 presidential campaign, he repeatedly condemned Azerbaijan’s ethnic cleansing of Artsakh’s Armenian population, spotlighting the forced displacement of over 120,000 Armenian Christians in 2023. He called out the U.S. foreign policy establishment for enabling Azerbaijan through military aid, stating, “It’s shameful that US taxpayer dollars have been used to fund the persecution of Armenian Christians by Azerbaijan.” Ramaswamy welcomed the Senate’s passage of the Armenian Protection Act of 2023, which blocked military aid to Azerbaijan, describing it as “the right step.”

His advocacy extended to public platforms, including interviews with Tucker Carlson and Piers Morgan, where he criticized the lack of media coverage on Azerbaijan’s crimes and joined ANCA protesters at a Miami rally to demand accountability. At the Hudson Institute, he addressed Azerbaijan’s destruction of Armenian cultural heritage, raising awareness about the conversion and demolition of historic churches in Artsakh. Ramaswamy’s commitment continued into 2024, when he aligned with President Donald Trump and Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance in condemning the persecution of Armenian Christians.

In Ohio, Ramaswamy engaged directly with the Armenian American community, attending a reception at Armenian Estates in Genoa Township, hosted by the family of Ty Safaryan, where he was introduced by longtime ANC-Ohio leader David Krikorian. His presence underscored his dedication to listening to and amplifying Armenian American concerns.

“Vivek Ramaswamy has stood with our community, just as we stand with him – supporting his bid to serve as Ohio’s next governor,” said ANC-Ohio’s David Krikorian. “We need truth-tellers like Vivek – at the state and national levels – leaders willing to fearlessly confront Azerbaijan’s aggression and call for cuts in U.S. aid to this genocidal dictatorship.”
